Were We Really Meeting Santa?

Santa Claus sits in a store decorated with Christmas trees. There are children in the background.

Even as a little kid, I thought like a fact-checking editor. Or at least as an advocate for truth in advertising.

I remember asking my Mom how Santa Claus could be at Steiger's, Kings, and Forbes & Wallace all on the same afternoon.

"Those aren't the real Santa. Those are his helpers," she explained.

Me: "Then why are the stores saying it's Santa? Shouldn't they tell people the guys are just helpers, not the real Santa?"

Mom: "Look, Jo, a display of books!"

At that age, I was easily distracted. But now when I see something that doesn't make sense, I look into it. 😊

Happy holidays!
